New art? YES New tunes? YES
Bigger version
Also I heard back from El Kartel and my custom Oakley's sold! Makes me feel good that I can paint something that someone would want to wear. If the person who bought them reads this, please send me a pic of you wearing them!
I'll have some more art and news within the next couple weeks.

Oakley Custom Sunglasses!
Back to reality. The Olympics in Vancouver are insane! It became really apparent to me that I don't like huge crowds. Hate feeling like cattle.
The show was amazing and it was great to catch up with some of my extended Vancouver family! Here's the pics of my glasses!

El Kartel x Oakley x Olympics
I normally try and stay away from huge crowds but I figure checking out the Winter Olympics in Vancouver is a once in a lifetime opportunity. So on Saturday I'm headed over on the ferry to go enter the insanity. I'll probably have to meditate on the ferry before hand so I can handle waiting in lines and being shoulder to shoulder with everyone.
The other reason I'm headed over is because of the show at El Kartel that I'm in. 40 different artists each painting a pair of Oakleys! Should be rad to see each artists different take on how their sunglasses should look. And as always I'm beyond excited to be showing with such amazing talent.
I'm loving these Dilla documentaries by Stussy
Waiting on #3!

In With That New New
Man, time is moving way too fast. I recently have been laid off at my job and for the first time in awhile I have no idea what I'm going to do. It's a bit scary but in a way very refreshing. I always find a way to make things work and hopefully this'll be no different. If you have an amazing career idea for me let me know!!
It makes me think about my art career more though. I am trying to think of ways to make money with my art but keep true to my work. It's a tough balance.
Also I have a website on it's way. I want it done right and it may be awhile before it's 100% ready but it should be worth the wait.
Here's my other two pieces from the Compound show. The response from the three pieces I sent there have been amazing and lets me know I'm on the right track with my traditional work.
Maybe Lately. 9x12 inches. Ink, coffee, charcoal, chalk on watercolour paper
Leaving Town. 9x12 inches. Ink, coffee, charcoal, chalk on watercolour paper
Here's an image I was doing for Redef Records but the monthly releases have been put on hold. Hopefully I will be doing other work with them soon! Really respect Jnota and Damu and they're doing such quality work.
Thought it was time I did another mix! Here's the cover with the link below.
Haven't posted any music videos in a long time. I could watch music videos 24-7, even the bad ones.

Compound Show and Girly Girls
Just slightly excited to be showing in Portland at Compound Gallery
Here's a preview of the work I'll be showing
As you can see above I've been adding more females into my work. Hopefully they will develop more.
And of course a mix to give you something to listen to while you spend your whole day looking at my art : P

2010 is Already Crazy!
Phew, 2010 has already left me out of breath and running around like a mad man. I am really going to have to be on my toes this year and push myself way harder then I ever have. But I feel ready for it!
I recently did an interview with my good homie Tarah over at Wallfarmers.ca Make sure to check out all the other amazing interviews and features!
My show at Ayden Gallery has finally come and I'm just getting my bags packed for Friday evening. I can't wait to see some of my old Vancouver friends and meet some of the other amazing artists showing that night. Here's a reworking I did of the flyer image. This will be there for sale as a giclee print and I think it'll be about 45 inches.
Lonely Traveler
As I mentioned in my last post I am going be doing some exciting things with Redef Records and Damu the Fudgemunk. Check out their blog where they recently mentioned my interview!
Something I have been working on lately is doing more female images. There is a ton of roughs in my sketchbook but here's one I developed into a more finished look. Let me know if you're feeling it. It's been a challenge to work the girls in with my style.
Say Goodbye to What
Another thing I have been trying to bring into my work is doing some photo manipulation. Luckily I have a very talented photographer friend, Jennifer Kennedy who lets me rock over her photos. Hopefully I'll be doing some more of these because I find them a nice change of pace and can lead to so many different looks.
Here's a couple ink and watercolour pages from my moleskin.
Happy New Years!!! Hope 2010 is a positive one for you.

Catching UP
It's been a minute since I've updated and that's just not acceptable! There have been tons of exciting news and projects coming up for me lately. And I'm quickly realizing that it's so important to have a good group of friends that have my back and push me to new heights. It truly blows my mind when I think about some of the support I've gotten recently.
Here is the flyer I designed for my first time showing at Ayden Gallery. It's a huge step for me and I can not wait to show there and catch up with my Vancouver people! It was nice to have the opportunity to do the flyer for all these amazing artists.
Another huge announcement for me has been the linking up with Damu the Fudgemunk's label called Redefinition Records! I'll be doing all sorts of art for their releases and hope to really build a relationship between the music and art. I'm a huge fan of Damu's music so this exactly the kind of thing I want to do with my art. There's a bit of info about it at The Find website.
I've done two more mixes over at 8track. These are bit more obscure and a little bit less hip hop based and show some of the different types of music I listen to(even though I'm a hip hop head most of the time).
Here's the images I used for the covers
Awhile back I took part in a group show at Billy's Bistro in Victoria. The theme was mafia and I did my take on Lucky Luciano. It was fun to do something with a different subject matter and it challenged me a bit.
And finally here a couple pics from the group show I did in Courtney. Thanks to Wallfarmers and Tarah!
I'll be back soon with some recent sketchbook scribbles.
